Dia 9 - Família na praia e despedidas/ Day 9 - Family at the beach and farewell.

Nosso barco ficou ancorado na praia grande, onde foi nosso luau e quando acordamos, pudemos tomar nosso último café da manhã no barco e aproveitar a praia. Alguns tomaram sol nas areias, outros fugiram dele debaixo das sombras das árvores. Muitos também aproveitam para entrar mais uma vez nas águas do rio Negro e se refrescar, conversando ou jogando vôlei.

Our boat anchored on the beach where we had our lual and when we woke up we could have our last breakfast on board and enjoy the beach. Some sun bathed on the sand, other went to seek shelter in the shadow of the threes. Many also took the opportunity to get into the Negro River waters again and refresh themselves, talking of playing volleyball. 







Alguns meninos se divertiram jogando futebol. Foi um cenário maravilhoso para o fim de nossa viagem, todos confraternizando.

Some boys had fun playing soccer. It was a beautiful scenery for  the end of out trip, everybody getting together.



 No fim da manhã, voltamos ao barco para começar as arrumações de malas e para almoçar. Após o almoço, todos se juntaram em um barco só e partimos rumo a Manaus, foram duas horas que aproveitamos para ficar com nossa família, conversando, brincando, cantando. Chegando lá, fomos ao shopping e tivemos tempo livre até as 22h, quando começamos a despedir do nosso querido coordenador Ron que ia ficar em Manaus para a próxima viagem e partimos para o aeroporto. Foram muitas despedidas, tristes, mas mostrando que a viagem, que esses 10 dias valeram a pena! E que muitas memórias, momentos e amizades serão para sempre.

In the late morning we went back to the boat to begin packing and have lunch. After lunch everyone got into one boat and we headed to Manaus, for two hours that we took to stay with our family talking, playing and singing. When we got there we went to a mall and had free time until 10pm, when we had to say bye to our dear coordinator Ron that was going to stay in Manaus for the next trip, and went to the airport. There we many goodbyes, sadness, but it showed that the 10 day trip was worth it! And that many memories, moments and friendships will be forever.

Dia 8 - Nadando com o boto e luau/ Day 8 - Swimming with the dolphins and beach party (Luau)

De novo hoje a gente acordo bem cedo para um café da manhã com panquecas bem gostosas feitas pela tripulação. A gente se arrumou para sair às 8 horas da manhã para ter a oportunidades fantástica de nadar com os botos vermelhos do rio Amazonas. Foi um momento mágico e todo mundo estava muito ansioso porque tivemos momentos que conseguimos tocar e alimentar essas criaturas lindas.

 

Today we woke up really early again, to eat a nice breakfast with pancakes prepared by the crew. ;we got ready to leave at 8 am, so we could have the wonderful opportunity of swimming with the red amazon dolphins. It was a magical moment and everyone was really anxious because we had moments where we got to touch and feed this beautiful creatures.





Depois de voltarmos para o barco tivemos tempo para relaxar e conversar com os outros intercambistas, logo depois a gente teve um almoço ótimo antes de sair para outra comunidade onde a gente aprendeu como se faz a borracha, jogou bola, nadou na beira do rio para depois voltar para o barco e ter umas horas livres. 

After going back to the boat we had time to relax and talk to each other, and right after we had a great lunch, before leaving to go to another community, where we learned how to make rubber, played soccer and swam in the river, so we could go back to the boat and have some free time after.
 

 Quando todo mundo tomava banho a nossa equipe do barco estava preparando uma festa surpresa linda para a gente em uma praia na luz da lua, onde a gente recebeu os nossos certificados de sobrevivência da viagem da Amazônia. 

 

 While everyone was taking a shower the boat crew prepared an incredible and beautiful surprise party for us, in a beach under the moonlight, where we received our Amazon Trip Survival Certificates.

Foi momento muito emocionante onde muitas pessoas choraram e se abraçaram. Foi um momento muito íntimo, tinha uma fogueira e todos juntos começamos a dançar, cantar e fazer brincadeiras que nos juntaram ainda mais como uma família. Foi um momento inesquecível com pessoas maravilhosas e um jantar divino.

It was an emotional moment where many people cried and hugged each other. A really intimate moment, there was a bonfire and all together we started to dance, sing, and play games that brought us even more together as a family. It was an unforgettable moment with wonderful people and a divine dinner.

Nós não temos palavras suficientes para descrever o que nós sentimos por essas pessoas fantásticas com quem compartilhamos os últimos dez dias, verdadeiramente formamos uma família um pouco estranha e um pouco doida mas, que no final é uma família que nos adoramos.

We don1t have words to describe what we feel for this amazing people with whom we shared the last 10 days. Truly we are a family, a little weird and crazy, but in the end a very loving family.

Dia 7 - Dia-a-dia das comunidades amazônicas/ Day 7 - Amazon's comunities day-by-day

Hoje a gente acordou muuuito cedo! Os motores dos barcos ligaram ás 5 horas da manhã acordando todo mundo. Na canoa, a gente assistiu o nascimento de sol que foi maravilhoso.

 

Today we woke up suuuuuper early! The boat engine was turned on at 5am, waking up everybody on board. On the canoe we watched the sunrise and it was wonderful.

 

 

Voltando de nosso passeio, nós fomos tomar café da manhã no barco antes um dia muito legal. 

A gente visitou uma vila/comunidade e encontrou os habitantes de lá. Nós demos nossos presentes para as crianças de lá. Eles ficaram muito feliz. 

 

Getting back from out tour, we went to had breakfast on the boat before a super fun day. We visited a village/community and met the people who lived there. We gave our presents to the kids and they were really happy.

 

 

Todos os intercambistas jogaram futebol no campo da comunidade. Todos se sujaram muito, pois o campo tinha água e lama e foi muito engraçado. Os outros brincaram com as craincas e os brinquedos. Depois de um banho refrescante nas águas do rio Negro, tinha almoço nos barcos. 

 

All the exchange students played soccer in the community's field. Everyone got dirty because the field had water and mud, it was really funny. Others played with the kids and the toys. After a refreshing shower in the waters of Negro River there was lunch on the boats.

 

 

Aí visitamos uma família vivendo na selva amazônica que fez suco e tapioca para nós. Lá também tivemos a sorte de ver uma preguiça e uma cobra. 

 

Then we visited a family that lives in the amazon forest, that made juice and tapioca for us. There we also had the chance to see a sloth and a snake.

 

Nas canoas, mais tarde, pescamos piranhas – algumas pessoas com mais sorte do que as outras. Estava chovendo muito e esfriou um pouco. Como estávamos nos barcos pequenos quando a noite chegou, a gente viu uma lua cheia muita linda nascer. No escuro achamos um jacaré na água e o guía falou um pouco sobre o animal. Voltamos para um jantar muito gostoso e agora vamos descansar!

 

On the canoes later we fished - some people had more looked than others. It was raining and got a bit cold. Since we were in small boats when the night came we saw a beautiful full moon appear. In the dark we thought there was an alligator in the water, so the guide told us a bit about the animal. We went back to a really nice dinner, and now we will rest.

Dia 6 - Curso de sobrevivência na selva/ Day 6 - Survival course in the jungle

Oi, tudo bem? Aqui está tudo ótimo, hoje a gente acordou bem cedo, para arrumar as coisas que íamos precisar neste dia. Finalmente, começou o dia que eu estava esperando desde o começo da viagem. A gente saiu depois do café da manhã para, a muito esperada, aula de sobrevivência na selva da Amazônia.

Hi, how are you?? Here everything is great. Today we woke up really early to the get the things we would need for the day ready. Finally, the day I've been waiting since the beginning of the trip started. We left, after breakfast, to the so anticipated survival course in the Amazon jungle.



Aprendemos a fazer fogo, um refugio e a achar água e comida na floresta.

We learned to make fire, shelter, find water and food in the forest.

 

                    

 

                     

Depois de aguentar os mosquitos e o calor e cruzar o rio andando, nós chegamos a um maravilhoso buffet típico da floresta organizado pelo pessoal do nosso barco e da Terra Brasil. Comemos o melhor peixe que muitos de nós já comemos.

After dealing with the mosquitoes, the heat and cross the river walking, we got to a wonderful forest-like buffet organized by Terra Brasil and the people in our boar. We had the best fish many of us had ever tried.

                      

Depois, a chuva nos fez voltar para o barco mas antes fizemos uma parada em um flutuador para tomar banho no rio Negro com água quentinha, já que todos estávamos muitos molhados pela chuva.

After that the rain made us go back to the boat, but before we stopped in a float to take a shower in the Negro River, with warm water, since all of us were wet because of the rain.

A experiênca foi inesquecível, já que fizemos coisas que nunca imaginamos que faríamos em nossas vidas. Aprendemos muitas coisas muito legais a agora estamos prontos pra aproveitar ao máximo nossos últimos dias na floresta amazônica.

The experience was unforgettable, given we did things we never imagined we would in our lives. We learned many cool things and now we're ready to enjoy to the max our last days in the Amazon forest.

Dia 5 - Começando a aventura no barco/ Day 5 - Starting the boat adventure

Uma vez mais a gente começou o dia com um café de manhã ótimo no restaurante do hotel Tropical e partimos para os barcos às 8:00 horas da manhã. Na chegada, a gente foi cumprimentado pela tripulação e cada um foi apresentado. Depois a gente teve a maravilhosa oportunidade de ver o encontro das águas, que é onde o rio Negro e o Solimões se juntam.

Once more we started the day with a great breakfast and the Tropical Hotel restaurant, and departure for the boat at 8am. On our arrival we were met the crew that introduced themselves. After that we had the wonderful opportunity to see the meeting point of the water, that is when Negro and Solimões Rivers come together.



Logo, a gente teve tempo para relaxar até chegar em flutuador que tinha vitórias-Régia, macacos bem de perto e pegou no colo um bicho-preguiça, jacaré e uma anaconda, ali mesmo. Também compramos artesanatos locais para depois voltar no barco e comer o almoço.

Soon we got the chance to relax until we got to a floating point that had "vitórias-Régia", monkeys really close, and we got to hold a sloth, alligator and snake, right there. We also bought local handcrafts to after go back to the boat and have lunch.



Em seguida, nos tivemos cinco horas para desfrutar da nossa companhia e fazer brincadeiras e dormir, foi um tempo muito massa para nos conhecermos melhor.

 

After that we had about 5 hours to enjoy each others company, play games and sleep. It was a really nice time to know each other better.

No final de dia a gente foi para uma aldeia de nome Janaguarilândia, onde a gente assistiu um ritual de casamento edepois a gente teve o privilégio de participar e dançar com os nativos. Ali tinham lembranças feitas pelos mesmas pessoas da aldeia que nos podíamos comprar. Nós tiramos muitas fotos muito legais e nos divertimos muito com as crianças.

At the end of the day we went to a tribe named Janaguarilândia, where we watched a wedding ritual and after that we had the privilege to participate and dance with the natives. There were souvenirs made by the people in the tribe that we could buy. We took many cool pictures, and we had a really fun time with the kids.





Quando a gente volto para o barco tivemos um jantar com lasanha, salada e arroz e uma sobremesa bem gostosa de abacaxi. E no final a gente teve um pouco de tempo para relaxar e tomar banho para depois separar os barcos, meninos de um lado, meninas do outro.

When we got back to the boat and we had dinner with lasagna, salad and rice, and a really good desert with pineapple. At the end we had some time to relax and take a shower to then separate the boat, girls on one side and boys on the other.

Dia 4 - Conhecendo Manaus/ Day 4 - Getting to know Manaus

O dia hoje começou com um café de manhã incrível! Tinha um monte de várias opções de pão (Que é uma raridade aqui em Brasil), então todo mundo ficou sem fome.

 

The day begun with an amazing breakfast! There were many units of different types of bread (something not so common here in Brazil), so everyone was satisfied.

Depois desta festa, a gente foi para o centro antigo de Manaus, onde nos visitamos o Teatro Amazonas e o um monumento bem legal na frente do teatro. Nós encontramos um grupo de estudantes quais estavam sentado na frente desde monumento.

After this we went to Manaus' old downtown, where we visited Amazonas Theater and a really cool monument in front of the theater. We found a group of students that were sat in front of it.



Eles ficaram um pouco assustados quando nós cantamos com eles. Dentro do teatro, a gente viu o ensaio de uma orquestra e tirou muitas fotos.

 

They got a bit scared when we sang with them. Inside the theater we saw an orchestra rehearse and we took many pictures.





Antes do almoço, nós fomos para o mercado municipal de Manaus, onde todo mundo gastou um monte de dinhero mas valeu a pena. As coisas que nós compramos são tipicas da região da Amazonia.

Before lunch we went to Manaus public market, where everyone spent lots of money, but it was worth it. The things we bought were special from that place.

A próxima parada foi em um parque ambiental, o INPA (Instituto Nacional de Pesquisa Amazônica) onde nós andamos no clima quente e úmido da Amazônia . Na saída, nós vimos a coisa mais fofa do mundo, um bicho preguiça!!!

 

Our next stop was an environmental park, INPA that stands for Instituto Nacional de Pesquisa Amazônica (National Institute of Amazon Research) where we walked in Amazon's hot and humid weather. On our way out we saw the cutest animal ever, a sloth.

Depois disso, todo mundo estava animado de novo para ver o show de “Boi Bumbá”. Em qual todo mundo estava dancando e cantando com os artistas. Nós estávamos tão animados que o Ron mudou o plano da noite e nós fizemos o show de talento. Todo mundo gostou o show só o Jerome estava chorando porque ele não conseguiu dançar samba.

After that everyone was exited again to watch the "Boi Bumbá" show, where everyone was dancing and singing with the artists. We were so exited that Ron changed the plans and we had a talent show. Everyone but Jerome liked it, who was crying because he couldn't dance samba.

Dia 3 - Chegando em Manaus/ Day 3 - Arriving in Manaus

O dia começou cedo,  nós fizemos as malas e fomos tomar o café de manhã bem tranquilo. Às 8:15, todo mundo entrou no ônibus para visitar o CIGS que é um Centro de Instrução de Guerra na Selva. A parte mais importante é um zoológico com animais da Amazônia.

The day begun early. We finished packing and went to have a tranquil breakfast. At 8:15am everyone got in the bus to visit CIGS, that stands for Centro de Instrução de Guerra na Selva (Jungle War Instruction Center). The most important part is a zoo with Amazon animals.



Bem animados, nós tiramos muitas fotos de macacos, onças, jacarés e pássaros como Araras. Teve até peixes.

Really excited we took many pictures of monkeys, jaguars and birds like macaws. There was even fish!



Depois nós fomos para um restaurante self-service para ter um tempinho de descanso e comer um almoço gostoso. Satisfeitos, nós fomos para um shopping para pegar dinheiro e comprar lembrancinhas.
After that we went to a self service restaurant to have a little break and eat a tasty lunch. Satisfied we went to a mall, get money so we could buy souvenirs.

Passamos no supermercado e finalmente chegamos no hotel. Primeira impressão foi incrivel. E ficou assim.Tem muitas piscinas e nós nos divertimos jogando volei na água.

We went to the supermarket and finally got to the hotel. Our first impression was incredible, and it stayed that way. It has many pools and we had fun playing volleyball in the water.





As 20:00 horas nos tivemos uma reunião e um bolo de surpresa para as aniversariantes da viagem. Depois no tempo livre jogamos sinuca, domino e xadrez até meia noite.
Amanhã vamos ver a cidade de Manaus, bem cedo, então é melhor ir dormir agora. :)

At 8pm we had a meeting and a surprise cake for the people who have birthdays during the trip. After that we had free time to play pool and chess until midnight.
Tomorrow we'll go around Manaus bright and early, so we better sleep now.

Dia 2 - Projeto Quelônios e Cachoeira / Day 2 - Turtle Project and Waterfall

Hoje nós acordamos cedo e tomamos café da manha. Depois saimos com o ônibus para visitar o “Projeto de Quelônio”. Esse projeto trabalha com animais ameaçados da Amazonia, como papagaios, lontras, tartarugas e especialmente com os peixe bois.

 

Today we woke up early, had breakfast and then left with the bus to visit Quelônio Project. This project works with Amazon animals that are threatened extinction such as parrots, otters, turtles and specially manatees.

No inicio do passeio, nós assistimos um vídeo sobre a história do projeto, como eles trabalham e porque eles foram fundados. Também foi explicado a estrutura da área e como os animais foram introduzidos. Depois assistimos mais um vídeo sobre os peixes-bois, uma espécie muito rara. O filme contou a história dos peixes bois, da caça deles e nós aprendemos porque esses animais são importantes para o ecossistema da Amazônia, e também para a sobrevivência dos humanos.

In the beginning of the trio we watched a video about the projects history, how they worked and why it was founded. It was also explained the areas structure and how the animals were introduced. After that we watched another video about the manatee, a really rare species. The movie told its story, about people hunting them and we learned why this animals are so important for Amazons ecosystem and humans survival.

Mas teve alguém que roubou a atenção de todo mundo: um cachorro que não tinha as patas traseiras e por isso foi colocado em uma cadeira de rodas. Ele acompanhou nosso passeio inteiro e deixou todo mundo feliz. 

 

But something else stole everyone's attention: a  dog that didn't have it's back legs, so it was put in a wheel chair. It accompanied our whole trip and made everyone happy.

                         

Em seguida, visitamos as piscinas dos peixes-bois, das tartarugas e das lontras. Também vimos várias aves e muitas pessoas tentaram ensinar eles falarem suas línguas.

 

After that we visited the manatees, then turtles and otters pools. We also saw many birds and many people tried to teach it their own languages.

No fim, fomos para o lugar onde as tartarugas se reproduzem. Agradecemos nossos guias e partimos para o almoço. Encontramos um restaurante maravilhoso diretamente na beira de um lago.

In te end we went to the place where the turtles reproduce. We thanked our guides and went to have lunch. We found a wonderful restaurant right by a lake.

Ao lado da vista bonita também tinha comida boa como peixe fresco.

By the nice view there was also good food, like fresh fish.

Alguns aproveitaram a oportunidade de nadar nesse lago.

 

Some took the opportunity to swim in this lake.

Bem alimentados pegamos uma trilha e chegamos embaixo de uma cachoeira onde podíamos nadar. Tinha um lugar para pular então vimos muitos saltos atléticos e também alguns menos atléticos.

 

Well fed, we took a trail and got underneath a waterfall we could swim in. There was a place to jump from, so we saw many athletic jumps, as well as some not as athletic.



                        




Era um lugar muito bonito.
Chegamos cansados e felizes no hotel e jantamos.
Um dia incrivel chegou no fim.
Amanha vamos deixar Presidente Figueiredo para tras e partimos para Manaus.
Nós estamos animados para as próximas aventuras!

 

It was a beautiful place.

We got to the hotel tired and happy and then we had dinner.

Tomorrow we go leave President Figueiredo behind and head to Manaus.

Dia 1 - Começando a aventura Amazônica/Day 1 - Starting the Amazon adventure

Nós acordamos com um café de manha maravilhoso esperando por nós. Ele tinha pão de quijo, frutas, suco fresco, e muitos bolos. Tinha também, o melhor café que nós experimentamos aqui no Brasil. Depois, nós tivemos uma reunião para relembrar/conhecer as regras da viagem e nossa programação.Todos nos apresentamos, dando uma introdução de quem somos e de onde viemos. Depois a reunião, nossa aventura na Amazônia começou.

Pegamos o ônibus e fomos para Presidente Figueiredo, onde tivemos tempo para comprar lembranças e almoçar. Não importa onde fossemos, as pessoas eram muito amigavéis e dispostas a ajudar.

Nossa primeira aventura Amazônica exótica começou com uma caminhada em uma trilha. Fomos dividios em três grupos e acompanhados por um guia local. Caminhamos até uma caverna, parando algumas vezes para saber sobre a vegetação local. Algumas árvores tinham mais de 400 anos, ainda considerada jovem. 
 

 

Ainda, conseguimos ver macacos. Quando chegamos na caverna, a vista era de tirar o fôlego. Tinha uma cachoeira que a água caia de um penhasco de uns 40 metros. Ela ficava na entrada da caverna. 

Apesar de só ficarmos na entrada, nossos guias nos informaram que a caverna vai mais de 200 metros. Lá, vimos aranhas e morcegos. Continuamos nossa caminhada pela floresta, chegando ao nosso destino final, uma grande cachoeira que caia em uma grande piscina que pudemos nadar. 

 

 

Na caminhada de volta, experimentamos nosso primeiro banho de chuva na floresta. Nossa próxima parada foi em um rio próximo ao hotel, as Corredeiras do Urubuí. Tinha uma praia e corredeiras. Nós flutuamos rio abaixo. 
 

Caminhamos de volta para o hotel e tivemos tempo livre para nos preparamos para o jantar. Jantamos no hotel comida brasiliera típica, depois, tivemos tempo livre, onde pudemos nadar na piscina, jogar jogos e conversar com os amigos.

We woke up to an awesome breakfast waiting for us. There was pao de queijo, fruit, fresh juice, pastries. It had some of the best coffee we have ever tried. After, we had a meeting to remember/get to know the trip rules and the program for the trip. Each person presented themselves one by one, giving a short introduction about where they're from. After the meeting, our Amazon adventure began.

We took a short bus ride to town, Presidente Figueredo, where we had time buy souveniers and have a lunch. No matter where we went the people were friendly and more than happy to help.

Our first taste of the exotic Amazon started in a hiking trail. We divided into three groups, each led by a local guide. We walked until a cave, stopping often to learn about the local vegetation. Some of the trees were as old as 400, and were still considered young. We also caught a short glimpse of monkeys.
When we arrived at the cave, the view was breathtaking. There was a waterfall that fell from the top of a cliff, about 40 meters high. It masked the entrance to an eerie cave. Although we only probed the entrance, our guides informed us that the cave goes back more than 200 meters. We saw spiders and bats inside.

We then continued our trek through a river the rainforest. Where we finally arrived at our final destination, a large breathtaking waterfall that fell into a pool large enough for us to swim. We spent some time there playing games and enjoying the cold water. As we were walking we experienced our first rain forest shower.

Our next stop was a spot on the river within walking distance to our hotel. There was a sandy beach. The river had rushing rapids. We floated down the river.

We walked back to the hotel and had free time to get ready for dinner. We were tired and hungry from the full day. The dinner was served in the hotel. There was typical brazilian dishes. After dinner we had free time. The hotel has a pool, game room, and field.
